Group1_Ideal Website for the topic of “media ownership”
Obviously, the “ideal websites” I mentioned a few weeks ago don’t suit the tone of media ownership. There are some websites below which are much suitable to our new topic.
@ Free Press
http://www.freepress.net/index.php
I like the format of this website, the way they arrange all the information, including banner and side columns. And I think that because the topic we are talking about is on the tide among media, thus we might like to insert some important lecture video/ news video/ discussion on our website. And we may want to build a list of members who can post their opinions on our website. A column to sign up is requisite. At the end, the function of research is also requisite for people who want to seek some information from our website.
@ Media Access Project

When users roll over the side menu, you can see the cute blue button follows which is pretty creative and shows a good interaction.
@ Media Matters
The 3-columns design might be a good idea. And a small pic which can present the whole view of the article give users a better understanding.
@ Media Watch
http://www.mediawatch.com/welcome.html
On this website I will focus on the side menu. The idea of a remote control is impressive. The bigger gray buttons present a group, and the small white buttons present another group. The on/off button which presents the home page is also an interesting point.
@ The Big Ten
http://www.thenation.com/special/bigten.html
The colorful figures give a clear image to classify information. If we use this way to describe some details on our web site, we could avoid using the way of one point after another (which will bore people easily).
@ PBS_Media Giants
http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/cool/giants/
They display the complicated framework of the big companies, which make a clear understanding to their relationships.

Boy, that remote control on the Media Watch site is pretty eye-catching. It might take a little while to get used to, but it's a neat gimmick.
